Mednarodni dan migrantov / International Migrants Day

As part of the Erasmus+ project co-financed by the European Union, on Monday, 12 December 2022, we organised an event On the Wings of Diversity at our school to mark the International Migrants Day. The event was opened by the school’s principal Andrej Mlinar in a welcome address in which he said that the school strives to ensure the well-being and acceptance of all our pupils.

Under the guidance of teacher Patricija Kravanja, our immigrant pupils introduced themselves to the audience, among whom were the school employees as well as the families of immigrants and other performers, In their native languages they told us what they like in Slovenia and what they miss.

The main guest of the intercultural event was Arbnore Avdylaj, a former student of our school, now a successful woman employed at the Embassy of the Republic of Kosovo in Ljubljana. Arbnore told us her life story when, as a five-year-old girl, she embarked on a better life as a five-year-old girl. The journey took her to Slovenia, where she still lives and works today.

The event was enriched by the school choir led by teacher Iva Dobovičnik and a dance show of schoolgirls under the guidance of teacher Jana Žerjal. After the event, the visitors could taste some traditional Slovenian desserts and desserts from the countries from which our immigrant students come. The desserts were made at the hands of the teacher Tatjana Dominić Radivojević.
